Yngwie Malmsteen
Yngwie Johann Malmsteen, (pronunciado en inglés /ˈɪŋveɪ ˈmɑːlmstiːn/) es un guitarrista y compositor sueco, nacido el 30 de junio de 1963 en Estocolmo, cuyo nombre real es Lars Johan Yngwie Lannerbäck. Malmsteen es un reconocido guitarrista de Heavy Metal que ha participado activamente en grupos como Steeler o Alcatrazz, y se le atribuye la mayor influencia en la creación del subgénero conocido como Metal neoclásico, siendo considerado uno de los grandes exponentes de las técnicas de shredding en la guitarra eléctrica durante la década de los años 1980.
Yngwie Malmsteen nació el 30 de junio de 1963, siendo el hijo menor de una familia conformada por su madre, Rigmor, su hermana Ann Louise, y su hermano Björn. Yngwie inicialmente no tenía ningún interés en la música; sin embargo, el 18 de septiembre de 1970 vio un especial de televisión sobre la muerte del guitarrista Jimi Hendrix, con siete años de edad, Yngwie vio con asombro como Hendrix obsequiaba a la audiencia torrentes de música y encendía su guitarra en llamas.
La aplicación de su intensa curiosidad y tenacidad a su primera guitarra, una Mosrite antigua, y luego una Stratocaster barata, muy pronto dieron sus frutos. Yngwie se sumergió en la música de bandas como Deep Purple y pasó largas horas de su adolescencia practicando para aprender sus canciones. Su admiración por Ritchie Blackmore y su estilo neoclásico y cromático lo llevó de vuelta a las fuentes clásicas: Bach, Vivaldi, Beethoven y Mozart. A medida que Yngwie absorbe las estructuras clásicas de los maestros, su estilo prodigioso comienza a tomar forma. A los 10 años, comenzó a concentrar todas sus energías en la música, dejando de lado los estudios, en los que destacaba, sobre todo, en inglés. En su temprana adolescencia, Yngwie vio un espectáculo de televisión de Rusia, en el que se presentaba el violinista Gidon Kremer, que llevó a cabo los muy difíciles "24 Caprichos" del siglo XIX (del virtuoso violinista Niccolo Paganini). El efecto era profundo, e Yngwie comprendió por fin la forma de combinar su amor por la música clásica con sus crecientes habilidades en la guitarra, y su carisma en el escenario.
